Mischa Barton Mischa Barton is one of the fresh faces on television who is slowly penetrating the world of the movies. She is best remembered as the socialite Marissa Copper in the FOX TV Series, “The O.C.”. She is also appeared on the silver screen in movies like “The Sixth Sense” and “Notting Hill”.

Mischa Barton doesn’t have the usual blonde beauty look, she has unique features and her genes has something big to do with that. Her mother, Nuala née Quinn, is from Ireland and her father, Paul Marsden Barton, is from England. She was born on January 24, 1986 and spent the early stages of her life on Hammersmith, London. When Mischa reached the age of four, she became a naturalized US citizen when she moved to New York City. Although she lives in America, she still managed to keep her British citizenship.

Mischa continued her studies in United States and attended Professional Children’s School in Manhattan and graduated in 2004. She also finished schooling in The Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in 2006.

Mischa started to show her love for acting at a young age of nine. She often starred in stage plays and among her first shows is the Off Broadway’s “Slavs!” She then became a must-see star in the Lincoln Center when she played the starring role in “Twelve Dreams”. Not long after, she made her first film appearance in the “Lawn Dogs”. Several offer for movies lined up for Mischa among which are “The Sixth Sense”, “Lost and Delirious” and “Notting Hill”. Other movies she was in include “Skipped Parts” and “Julie Johnson”.

Television proved to be the niche for Mischa. She started appearing on TV in 1996. She was first known as Lily Montgomery in “All My Children”. Then after she starred in a number of TV shows including “Pups”, “Once and Again”, and “Fastlane”.

“The O.C.” gave Mischa the biggest break of her career yet. The FOX TV series premiered in August 2003. The show gave her two Teen Choice Awards including Choice Breakout TV Star- Female in 2003 and TV- Choice Actress Award in 2006. She was also nominated as Best Performance in a Drama Series Episode from Prism Award in 2006.

Aside from being a full pledged actress, Mischa also modeled and endorsed a number of consumer products. She was once the face of Neutrogena and a spokesperson for Keds. She also modeled for fashion lines for Calvin Klein, Aeropostale, Bebe Stores, Dooney & Burke, Jeans and Clothes, Jaspal, Morgan de Toi and Monsoon Accessories. She also appeared in an Australian TV commercial for Famous, a teen magazine.

Aside from her job as a model and as an actress, she is also the spokesperson for SAFE (Skin Awareness for Everyone) and TRAID (Textile Recycling for Aid and International Development).

Mischa Barton also graced men’s magazine and was named as the 33rd hottest women in Maxim Magazine’s Hot 100 in the year 2005. FHM gave her the number 52 spot on its 100 Sexiest Women in the World list on the same year. Come 2006, she was named 32nd sexiest women by FHM magazine.
